“ex.spectators”, 8’25”, 2000

Spectators in the cinema are telling their expectations before the screening of the film.
This re-presentation refers to a moment in darkness (black screen), at a split when the audience
dives into the realm of fiction. Here the intention was to merge the audience into a film ambience
and to focus on their verbal expression concerning their expectations. These voices reflect and
translate seconds of silence and the beginning soundtrack of the film. It is not a documentary or
sociological study of an audience that visits cinemas, but a reference to the spectator who is
always invited to expect.
