Jury statement
The jury was impressed by the formal inventiveness of this piece, notably the daring use of montage and the very rigorous work carried out on the different dimensions of archives and records. We also greatly appreciated the subject dealt with in Biscottis film, a subject that is increasingly central to modern societies. This is an important work for it subtly reveals the fragility of visual material in its relationship to history.
The jury of the 12th Biennial of Moving Images (BIM) was made up of Lars Henrik Gass (director of the International Festival of Short Films, Oberhausen), Philippe-Alain Michaud (head of the film department at the Georges Pompidou Center, Paris), Jean-Pierre Rehm (director of the International Documentary Film Festival [FID], Marseille), Koyo Yamashita (representative of Image Forum, Tokyo) and Marie Sacconi (artist and teacher at ECAV, Sierre).
